2012 European Championships Qualifying Draw

The 2012 European Championships Qualifying groups have now been drawn.

Scotland have been drawn into group I with Spain, Czech Republic, Lithuania and Liechtenstein.

The fixtures are yet to be announced as all four Football Associations need to agree on the order of the fixtures.

You will be able to find the fixtures on nationwidefootball.co.uk as soon as they are announced.

Levein Confident After Draw

Craig Levein is not intimidated by Scotland's difficult Euro 2012 qualifying group.

The Tartan Army were pitted against holders Spain and the Czech Republic in Group I, with Lithuania and Liechtenstein rounding off a tricky draw.

"It's exciting, especially with Spain coming out of the hat," said Levein.

"I am pretty sure that the Scotland fans will be looking forward to Spain coming to Hampden and to a little holiday over there.

"It is no secret that Spain should be favourites to win the group if they play as they can but it might be easier in a five-team group to get that second place.

"We need to get some momentum between now and then, if we can do that then we are more than capable of causing problems for everyone in the group. We are in with a fighting chance."

McCulloch relishes second chance

Lee McCulloch has thanked Craig Levein for giving him a second chance with Scotland.

The Rangers midfielder hasn't played international football since 2008 having chosen to focus on his club career, but he was included in the squad that will face Czech Republic next week.

"I'm absolutely delighted to be back in Scotland's plans and I'd like to take this opportunity to thank Craig Levein for giving me another chance," McCulloch said.

"It was one of the hardest decisions of my life when I stepped down from the national team. But I had my reasons.

Recalls for Boyd and McCulloch

Kris Boyd and Lee McCulloch have been recalled to the Scotland squad by Craig Levein.

The pair have recently announced themselves as available following a brief haitus from international football and are part of the 24-man line-up for next month's clash with Czech Republic.

Bristol City midfielder Paul Hartley has also been included in the panel, but there's no room for Allan McGregor or Barry Ferguson.

Euro 2012 Fixtures Announced

The fixtures for Scotland's Euro 2012 qualifying campaign have been announced.

Craig Levein's side will start against Lithuania on Friday 3rd September 2010 and finish against Spain on Tuesday 11th October 2011. Both games are away from home.

The decision was taken in a meeting in Spain on Friday.

After the Lithuania game, the Scots will welcome Leichtenstein to Hampden Park on Tuesday 7th September.

They will then travel to the Czech Republic on Friday 8th October and host Spain on Tuesday 12th.

Levein said: "Although it's not quite the ideal scenario, I'm pretty happy with the way it's turned out. We've avoided playing in June, which has always been difficult for us. We know from experience that Lithuania away is not an easy match. I'd perhaps have preferred that one to be at home, but it gives us a chance."
